I’m new here and sure NOT the proper term but started looking on utube and may try this wooden post, rope  and steel tube through middle I saw.
bought 40acres of heavily eroded, old soybean/wheat pasture that grows 6ft tall marestail by end of July if not controlled.

Tried last yr to let it all grow to get some ground cover but the pinkeye Infestations (from volunteer wheat) kept me and hubby busy for 2 seasons so this yr we cut it back with disc mower and havnt doctored and eyeball since. 😆

I tried having soil tests done but they screwed them up last 2yrs so not even going to try …… it’s dry, sandy, clayish soil that needs carbon!   LOL

Just bought 32 old rounds now looking for ways to spread it this winter— I’m in flat sc Ks so I have a few hills but not many— way I see it I got this hay cheap enough it sure couldn’t hurt this ground— just one problem done have a tractor at our land.
ive got a spike bale bed and a good farm truck

any suggestions appreciated

Welcome to the forum! I actually made a cheap bale unroller that hooks into a 2 inch receiver hitch, so it can be taken on and off a truck or ATV. Its not perfect, but it gets the job done! You can also buy 3 pt bale unrollers for around $700.  You could also rig up a wheel on the front of you truck to push the bales.

I have less than $100 in my homemade unroller.  I picked up some scrap steel from the local steel scrap yard and welded it up myself. I need to make some modifications to it before this winter.  I want to extend the arms to allow more clearance between the T bar and bale.  Add a cross brace to keep the arms from spreading apart and add side support to the pivot point at the receiver end.

No it is not adjustable for different width bales. That would take a little more engineering!

Is there a chance you can haul the bales out where you want them spread and just push them by hand to unroll them? That's what I did before I had an unroller for the tractor.

What did you come up with for a bale unroller and how did it work?

I made the modifications to mine and it worked WAY better!

Happy Easter!
